Ancient Technology

So recently I was watching the news and what was happening in Egypt.  Right before commercial break they started saying that all communications in Egypt had been cut off.  Things like the internet and cell phone service.  This prevented the Egyptian people from being able to communicate with the outside world and prevented them from using social networks like tweeter, Facebook, flicker, among others, to show the outside world what is actually going on in Egypt through photos, sounds and movies.

As they were introducing there next segment they stated that even though the internet and cell phone towers were shut off in Egypt, people were still managing to get in contact with the outside world using "Ancient Technology."  Then came the commercial break.

So there I am waiting for the commercials to be over cause I want to see what this "Ancient Technology" is.  In my head I'm thinking boat, maybe smoke, pigeons or something else ancient.  With the commercial break over they started to repeat the story and they finally get to this "Ancient Technology."  So I am patiently listening as he lists the "Ancient Technology"....dial up modems, land line phones, and satellite phones.

Really?  That's "Ancient Technology"?  Needless to say that made me feel very, very, very old.
